Well, it’s safe to say we’re pretty darned excited to announce that on Wednesday, October 10th, 2018, the Barrie Chamber of Commerce named that Tandempark and CEO & founder, Liam Squires are both finalists for 2018 Barrie Business Awards. Tandempark, alongside DECAST and Madison Taylor Design, is in the running for the Innovation & Technology Award, while Liam is being considered for the Arch Brown Entrepreneur Award of Excellence. Also being considered for this award are Dawn Mucci of LiceSquad.com and Angie Ricci of Angel Tours and Entertainment.

The Business Awards recognize businesses and business leaders who demonstrate excellence and corporate community service, the Chamber website explains. Liam and Tandempark were among the 40+ finalists that were announced at the press reception. Also in attendance were Mayor Jeff Lehman, MP John Brassard, and MPPs Alex Nuttall and Doug Downey. “This is a tremendous honour,” Squires explains. “To be nominated by our community for these awards is humbling enough as it is, but to have the judges value what we’re doing and name us as finalists is something I never expected!”

Over the past few years, the team at Tandempark has been diligently working hard to solve challenges the volunteer sector continually face. While the original vision focussed on connecting volunteers and organizations, the unique approach we took allows us to recognize and respond to other very important challenges in volunteerism.

“What often gets overlooked is how interconnected the volunteer community needs to be in order to realize it’s potential,” says Squires. “So while some volunteer management tools are great for a specific subset of tasks, they often work like silos - 50 foot concrete walls that are difficult to fill and make it even harder to collaborate with others. Our platform is founded on the principles of compassion, collaboration, and contribution, so we can help caring volunteers, organizations, municipal departments, schools, and even businesses, get their hands dirty and build up their community. We all have a role to play in building strong, vibrant, connected communities. Tandempark’s mission is to make it a little easier to do that together.”

So, as a final note in this joyful little announcement, we send a special thanks to everyone who felt we were deserving of a nomination! We feel the love!

The award winners will be announced at the Barrie Chamber of Commerce Award Gala on November 8th. The event is sponsored by Bell, The City of Barrie, Alectra Utilities, and Park Place. Live generously,

Liam
